Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8 ESV)
The Lord is constant and is never unstable in his ways. People’s opinions and behaviors change, but Jesus remains the same. As the Son of God, he is the standard of goodness and righteousness. And for that, we should be glad and praise him for his faithfulness. If he deviated from his holiness, our confidence would break because we can’t be sure that he will keep his promises.
So how can we put all our trust in him today? For me, it starts with the story of his resurrection. He was raised back to life, and he visited many eyewitnesses who have shared this historical event that no one can successfully refute. Scores of generations would hear about Jesus, and many would come to know him through his Holy Spirit. His words endure and miraculously transform the lives of many converts. This is not a blind trust because the fruit of his followers are easily identified and rooted in love (Galatians 5:22-23).
“But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:5-6).
