Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. (Hebrews 12:3-4 ESV)
Have you put up valiant fight and resisted sin to the point of shedding blood? That sounds pretty drastic and probably borderline obsessive compulsive. But that is the level seriousness we need to have towards all sin. One small compromise easily leads to another, creating a compounding effect on how much we fall short. Not only do we become calloused towards God, but we also shortchange ourselves on other blessings. We may brush things off as “no big deal,” which is what the devil wants. This way he can fire a load of accusations against you when you are feeling low and discouraged. His goal is to break your faith; Jesus’s goal is to strengthen it.
Therefore, you must put on the full armor of God so that we may resist the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). Know your weak points and cover them with your shield of faith, and protect your mind with the helmet of salvation so that you remain spiritually strong. The work of Jesus has completely sealed you, and he is now whittling away your character flaws so that your heart and mind are aligned with his.
