For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:12-13 ESV)
The word of God exposes every thought, desire, and motive within in us. It is the mirror that tells us who we are in the eyes of God who is always watching. To say that he knows everything about us is an understatement. He knows what we are thinking, what we will say, and even what we are about to do. He is omniscient, meaning that he is all-knowing; and he is omnipresent, meaning that he is everywhere. Everyone is living in the presence of God, but not everyone can sense him or hear his voice. Only those who believe in Jesus know his voice because they have put their faith in him (John 10:27). “Whoever is of God hears the words of God” (John 8:47).
God’s word is powerful because only he can speak creation into existence. Only he can give a command to calm a storm or heal a disease. He declares that he is the one true God that gives and sustains life, and he will not share his glory with another. When he speaks, miracles happen.“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:28 ESV).
