May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. (2 Thessalonians 3:5 ESV)
May the Lord remind you about the love of God daily. May he stir your heart with love because his Father calls you his child (1 John 3:1). The Bible says that you are made in his image, ever so precious in his eyes. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:29-31).
Often times we are hard on ourselves when we experience failure. And sometimes we get discouraged because others fail us. For some of us, maybe no one has ever said, “I love you.” When we go through a heartache or heartbreak, God wants to provide healing. The condition of our hearts matter to him because they are what drive us into a loving relationship with him. After all, Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart” (Matthew 22:37).
When you are downcast and discouraged, remember the love that God has for you. Recount the blessings he has given and meditate on passages of Scripture that describe his love for you. And if you don’t remember anything else, think about the gospel and how God pursued you by giving up his Son to redeem you. Yes, you matter to him and you are perfectly loved.
