Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5 ESV)
Our Father can be trusted because he preserves the people who trust in him. There are many written examples in the Bible where he delivered his people from their enemies, sustained them during famine, and shielded them from plagues. He also came in bodily form, as the Son of God to show us how close he wants to be to everyone. How blessed were those who actually met Jesus during his ministry! To hear the voice of God and feel his hand that offered comfort was extraordinary. There was something about him that drew people in; they were motivated to seek him out as soon as the news spread that he can heal the sick and give sight to the blind. He gained the trust of believers who needed hope when hope could not be found.
Jesus said, “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him” (John 12:26). And there are many ways the Father honors his children: answered prayers, witnessing miracles, receiving a portion of the Holy Spirit in the form of spiritual gifts, wisdom, peace, etc. The list can go on forever because I believe God’s goodness is infinite. As long as we stay committed to Jesus, he will continue to shape and preserve us as he wishes. Our trust in him will be rewarded in due time. We will prosper here and in eternity.
