Praying for Saints

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. (Colossians‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭ESV)

This is such a wonderful and mighty prayer for all believers in Christ. Can you imagine the number of people who have benefited from prayers like these? Who in your lifetime has asked God to build up your faith in this manner? Although he hears the petitions of many, it only takes one answered prayer to dramatically impact your life with spiritual knowledge and wisdom.

The most important outcome is the influence of faith from one saint to another. This is what it means to build one another up. The unceasing prayers for your benefit were inspired by the love of God who invited a friend or a relative to care enough for your well-being. I have a feeling that our family trees of faith have very deep roots in Christ where our ancestors prayed for the faith of future generations. We should all pray Colossians 1:9-10 over people and celebrate the effect it will have on them.
