Yes, I will rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance (Philippians 1:18-19 ESV)
Being imprisoned did not break Paul’s faith in Jesus. He actually was more determined than ever to share the gospel because he was convinced that Christ will eventually set him free, either physically or spiritually. He had peace knowing that if he remained alive, then his ministry was not finished. And if he died, he will be home with the Lord. For him, it was a win-win situation.
Paul maintained a healthy outlook on life because he understood that his soul will always be well while serving the Lord, even in the midst of suffering. He knew his final resting place would be heaven. and that is how he was able to rejoice. Nothing could ever shake his faith or discourage him because Jesus cleansed and redeemed him.
This world can try to break you. But you must know that Jesus has already saved you. You have been delivered from death and have been set free.
“In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me!” (Psalm 31:1 ESV)
