“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” (John 14:1-4 ESV)
Your check-in process has already been taken care of. There is no need for you to bring any luggage because the House of the Lord will have everything you need. There is a room designed and decorated just for you, and it’s all yours to enjoy forever. But even greater than that is the happiness you will experience when you finally enter the presence of God. Accompanying you will be Jesus to present you to our Father as blameless and beloved because you persevered with your faith in him. Little did you know that he whisked you away from the devil and into his protective custody the day you asked him into your heart.
And as you look around to gather your bearing, you become awestruck with the majestic size of this place. There are billions of other saints who call it home, and there is ample space to bring in billions more. You might just think to yourself: How wonderful would it be to hear everyone’s story? We would have all of eternity to get to know each other very well. And we have the privilege of worshipping our Great King, in unison, giving him all our praise and thanksgiving for the love and blessings he pours over us.
Indeed, this glorious house of God is our inheritance, and we get to dwell with him forever!
“Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!” (Psalm 65:4)
