The Righteous Shall Remain Standing

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. (Psalm 20:7-8 ESV)

I find it silly that the enemies of God think they can go to war with him. They may build a massive army and have all the latest weaponry, but the slightestc breath of his word can wipe them all out of existence.

Did they not hear what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah, how the Lord rained sulfur and fire from heaven to destroy those cities? Did they not see how he gave safe passage for the nation of Israel by parting the Red Sea and then destroy the Egyptians by drowning them? Did they not learn that God will protect his servants from the lion’s mouth or from being burned in a fiery furnace? Oh, how stubborn and prideful they must be to not see the power of the Lord in all of these events! Everything he has said and done was so that all people will know that he is LORD and there is no one else like him.

Those who love him will be blessed and remain standing. Those who oppose him will be destroyed by his wrath. “There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous” (Psalm 14:5). And “if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
