As Long As I Have Breath

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. (Psalm 146:1-2 ESV)

As long as I have breath, I will praise the Lord. And as long as I have strength, I will serve him. He hears the prayers of all who love him, and he protects them under his fold. He makes possible from what seems impossible, and makes miracles from what appears to be ordinary.

He is a God of justice, grace, and mercy. He captures every tear and comforts our souls. Healing and restoration are his specialties as he encourages us to secure our hope in him.

The Lord is pleased when we acknowledge him. He adores us when we worship and magnify his name. When we understand how powerful and majestic God is, we can’t help but tremble in his presence. And yet, he reminds us to “come boldly to the throne” because we are his children and heirs.

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that we are his pride and joy, and yet we are. To be made in his image means something to him because he placed a part of him in us. And even “while we were sinners,” rotten to the core, he went to an extreme to love and save us anyway. So yes, as long as I have breath, I will praise the Lord.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm‬ ‭150:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬).
